I was born in Rio de Janeiro the oldest of three children. My dad passed away when I was six so my mom had her hands full raising a family on her own. I grew up in one of Rio's most bohemian neighborhoods - Vila Isabel. Like most kids in Rio I spent a lot of time at the beach. We often visited Recife in the northwest of Brasil where my mother's family lives. In 1997 I graduated from teaching school and started working with children in my neighborhood. By 2002 I decided I wanted to see the world before I got married. I went to Germany to live with my friend Ines and her husband Thomas in Frankfurt. It was my first time outside of Brasil. I returned to Rio in 2003 even more curious about the world. I went to America in 2004 as an au pair and stayed for two years. Then after a brief stop-over in Rio I moved to Sweden in November of 2006.
